How to Set Up KeepSolid SmartDNS on Windows Phone 8 and Higher?

Before you change your Windows Phone DNS settings

Before you start configuring KeepSolid SmartDNS on your device, we recommend you to make a note of your current DNS settings. You’ll need this information when you want to revert to the original settings later.

To unblock streaming services with our KeepSolid SmartDNS app, you have to register your IP address. Check out how to manage your IP address in the KeepSolid SmartDNS App and your KeepSolid User Office here

Note: We also recommend you to block Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) on your router, otherwise you may not be able to bypass geo-restrictions and access the desired content.

Configuring KeepSolid SmartDNS to work with your Windows Phone

Generally, users of Windows Phone 8.1 and higher should have the option to configure the DNS settings of the phone. However, there is a known bug with Windows Phones that leaves many customers unable to change the settings on their device. In this case, you may configure your router, so that devices connected to it, also use KeepSolid SmartDNS service.

Method I. Change DNS on Windows Phone

Here’s how to change DNS on Windows Phone if you have such a possibility:

1. Go to your Windows Phone Settings

2. Select WiFi

3. Press and hold the WiFi network your Windows Phone is connected to.

4. On the menu that appears, select Edit.

5. Navigate to the DNS field and enter the address of one of KeepSolid SmartDNS servers:

62.210.136.158

69.162.67.202

6. Press Done and restart your phone so that the changes of the DNS settings apply.

Note: Access to KeepSolid SmartDNS service is provided basing on your IP address, which should be registered in our system.
