Before you start configuring KeepSolid SmartDNS on your device, we recommend you to make a note of your current DNS settings. You’ll need this information when you want to revert to the original settings later.
Generally, users of Windows Phone 8.1 and higher should have the option to configure the DNS settings of the phone. However, there is a known bug with Windows Phones that leaves many customers unable to change the settings on their device. In this case, you may configure your router, so that devices connected to it, also use KeepSolid SmartDNS service.
Here’s how to change DNS on Windows Phone if you have such a possibility:
1. Go to your Windows Phone Settings.
2. Select WiFi.
3. Press and hold the WiFi network your Windows Phone is connected to.
4. On the menu that appears, select Edit.
5. Navigate to the DNS field and enter the address of one of KeepSolid SmartDNS servers:
European DNS - 126.96.36.199
US DNS - 188.8.131.52
Note: We recommend to use the DNS server closest to your real location. This will give you better speed of DNS resolution on your Windows Phone.
6. Press Done and restart your phone so that the changes of the DNS settings apply.
Note: Access to KeepSolid SmartDNS service is provided basing on your IP address, which should be registered in our system. So whenever your IP address differs from the registered one, our service will stop working for you. To get everything up and running again, please update your IP address via your User Office or KeepSolid SmartDNS app.
